Elisa Gomez, born Martina Martinez Casiano, age 98, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 9, 2018,surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1920 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

She married Jose Gomez Ruiz on April 24, 1952 in New York. Shortly after they moved to Savanna, IL, where Jose worked at an artillery base. They moved to Chicago where they raised a family and lived there for over 50 years. In recent years she lived with her daughter and granddaughters in Carol Stream.

Elisa loved embroidery, gardening, going to Church, visiting with family and cooking for her family. She dedicated her life to her family and her pets.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Gomez of Carol Stream and Lupe (Steve Siadek) Gomez-Siadek of Elgin, three granddaughters, Elisa Maria (Javier Jr.) Cisneros, Emily Martina (Nancy Colon) Montanez, and Erin Molly Montanez, five great-grandchildren, Jazilyn Marie Montanez, Javier III, Jose, Marissa and Joshua Cisneros, and nieces and nephews, including Celia Gonzalez and Jose Cuebas. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and siblings.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 (her husband's birthday) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 1048 N. Campbell Ave., Chicago, IL 60622, (773-342-1516). Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
