Eleanor May Wood, age 86, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and formerly of Villa Park, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011. She was born on May 10, 1924 in Chicago to William and Genevieve Downing.
Eleanor's life was her faith and the church her life. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Oak Park for many years and has maintained lifelong friendships. Her work career began at International Harvester where she met her husband Robert. Eleanor raised her family in Villa Park and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Villa Park. She later moved to Windsor Park although she did not retire and continued her accounting career with the Scheck Lumber Company through her remaining days. Eleanor dedicated herself to the church throughout her life as a volunteer, church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Pioneer Girl leader and countless other services. She had a profound effect on many lives.
Her primary focus and most important aspect of her life and what she enjoyed most was spending time with her immediate and extended family. Wife of the late Robert, loving mother of Carol (Daniel) Roglin, John (Linda) Wood, Susan (William) Moulton. Loving grandmother of six, Kristina and Danny Roglin, Jessica and Jennifer Wood, Alyson and Nicholas Moulton. Eleanor is also survived by her sister Adabelle (Phillip) Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1991 and sister Violet Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., Carol Stream, IL 60188.
