Elaine G. Schaper, age 84, a resident of Wheaton for more than 50 years, died Sunday, January 11, at home surrounded by her daughters. She was born November 27, 1924 in Chicago, IL.
She was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was involved with the JOY group, and the Afternoon Circle. She loved to garden, cook and bake. She was an avid collector of angels. The light of her life were her three grandchildren.
She is survived by her four daughters, Pam (Lou) Fortino of Winfield, IL, Susan (David) Potter of Beloit, WI, Nancy Curtis of Downers Grove, IL and Peggy (Tom) Toman of Elburn, IL; three grandchildren, Virginia Curtis, and Nicholas and Sara Toman; three sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her sister, Bernice (the late Art) Narracong; and her parents, Reynold and Cecilia Wagner.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, 125 E. Seminary Ave., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
