Eileen Marie Karmis, age 93, a resident of Wheaton, IL, since 1956, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born December 11, 1927 in Beloit, Wisconsin to James and Mary Burns.
Eileen grew up in Beloit. She graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She began her career at Hines V.A. Hospital in Hines (Maywood), IL. While at Hines Hospital, she met George Karmis, who later she married on August 23, 1952. After the birth of her first child, Christopher, she became a stay-at-home mom and raised their children. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church.
She loved painting and enjoyed participating in many art classes through the Wheaton Park District. Gardening was another passion of Eileen's. She was also an avid reader and benefited from the many services and activities of the Wheaton Public Library. She was an amazing person who found joy in everyday life. She never complained and was always excited to be with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1998, her parents and three siblings, Richard, Kathleen, and Patsy.
As a family, we grieve the loss of our mom and celebrate a life well-lived.
Services will be held privately.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Wheaton Park District in care of Karen Patterson, 1849 Cherry Street, Wheaton, IL 60187. These gifts will be used to support the Oil and Watercolor Painting Classes at the Park District which Eileen dearly loved.
