Hackman
July 4, 1922 – December 20, 2018
Eileen Hackman (Bobbe) was born at home in the little town of Coopersburg, in eastern Pennsylvania on the Fourth of July, 1922.
She graduated as valedictorian from Coopersburg High School, then from Wheaton College in 1944 and received a Master's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Her teaching career included the Denver Public Schools and Assistant Professor at Wheaton College. Most recently she was an Associate Professor at Elmhurst College for 15 years and became the Chairman of the Health and Physical Education Department.
Eileen spent her summers as a Camp Director, first in Maryland, then at Wheaton's Summer Program in Wisconsin, Honey Rock Camp. Starting in 1964, she was the founding Director of Deer Run Camp, on the shores of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. She directed the Camp for 12 summers, enjoying the challenge of establishing new programs, activities and traditions.
Over the years, Eileen enjoyed photography, listening to Jazz, bird watching, playing tennis, sailing her Daysailer on Lake Winnipesaukee and travels to Europe.
Throughout her life, Eileen was motivated and sustained by her faith in Christ and her unwavering trust in the love and goodness of God.
She will be greatly missed by her neighbors and many loving friends. She is survived by her niece Gail Cerniglia (George), and her great niece Katherine Cerniglia.
