IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edwin J.
Gundlach
June 29, 1965 – May 30, 2024
Edwin J Gundlach (1965-2024) Ed a God-fearing man with an infectious gregarious sense of humor who deeply loved God, his wife, his kids and people… moved home to Heaven on May 30th 2024. He was 58 years old. Ed defined his life through love in action as described with two bibles verses. First James 2:26. Faith without good works (service to others) is a dead faith. The second is Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. With a heartfelt and powerful intensity, Ed protected and loved his wife and family. Through humor, wit and action he never took the easy way out serving his family and serving countless other people around the city and suburbs. He served them with humility and without boasting about what he did. Ed's gifts and talents serving others were beyond the trades. With love, wisdom and dedication, Ed together with his wife Nancy adopted and raised 3 brothers. At church, Ed served kids, always choosing to work with those that were the most challenged. Along the way Ed also served the homeless in P.A.D.S. shelters. Ed would routinely gather dozens of refugee kids to take them to church or out for lunch, snacks or dinners. No words could express how much he is missed here on earth yet we celebrate the joy he is experiencing in Heaven.
Ed's education went beyond graduating high school. Through on the Job training, college courses, trade programs, continuing education and certification classes he was skilled as a master plumber, proficient in various trades such as Hvac systems, electrical, welding, and construction.
Ed started his employment years laying carpet, then working for a real estate entrepreneur as head of maintenance for an array of apartment buildings. He even owned a seal coating business. Eventually Ed moved into the career he loved as a plumber. He was employed as the foreman for a commercial plumbing company. He was so skilled at his position that he was offered the ownership which he declined because he enjoyed the artistry of plumbing rather than the business.
Ever since he was 18 years old, he enjoyed Riding motorcycles, he especially enjoyed riding with his wife Nancy on the back. Ed also enjoyed camping with his kids, fishing, barbeques and enjoyed watching his kids sporting events never missing a game. He loved his garage time whether it was repairing things, or creating works of art for Nancy using welding and woodworking tools. He loved reading about and watching historical documentaries about American warfare. Ed loved food period. It didn't matter what it was… from eggs to steak, from liver with onions, to even a goat eye (long story don't ask). BBQ to salads. The only thing he didn't care about was the presentation. (no Fru Fru for him). Ed had a simple mantra "Food fixes everything "
Ed is survived by his wife of 30 years Nancy; His three Sons Timothy (Anna) Jeremy and Aaron. His siblings JoDee Swanson (preceded in death Rolf) and his twin Evan (Mary). In-laws.
