Edwin Hugh Andrews, age 88, a Wheaton, IL resident since the 1960s, died on July 27, 2011 at Hines VA Hospital, Maywood, IL. He was born November 25, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Edwin Milam and Margera Aulabaugh Andrews. He received his education in Tulsa, OK and the southern Illinois cities of Jacksonville and Decatur.
Edwin served in active duty in the U.S. Army from January 1943 to December 1944, in a Headquarter Battery of the 250th CA Regiment. While stationed in Alaska he served at the organ as a Chaplain's Assistant.
Ed was a gifted pianist, having studied at Millikin University and mastering major Classical piano works. He often delighted his family and friends with his uniquely chorded popular music interpretations and whimsical original piano arrangements.
He is survived by a brother Donald Milam (Carol) Andrews of Laguna Woods, CA; a sister Miriam (widow of the Rev. Parry) Paraschou of Eagan, Minnesota; nephews Bruce Milam Andrews, Douglas Fredric (Debra) Andrews, Soule Milam (Vicky) Paraschou, and Milam Jonathan (Maria) Paraschou; niece Lisa Paraschou (Misael) Jordan; and ten great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a service in celebration of his life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6th at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL. A short military graveside program will be performed at 2:00 P.M. before interment in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL.
