Edward A. Turek, age 91, a resident of Glen Ellyn, and formerly of Villa Park, died Saturday, November 25, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born July 15, 1915 in Chicago.
Ed served in the US Army during World War II and was in the 29th Division. He was in one of the first waves that stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day. He received a Bronze Star for his service. After the war he worked for over 35 years at International Harvester. He enjoyed retirement in Wisconsin and Florida. He especially enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his two children, Mark (Judi) Turek of Wheaton, IL and Susan (Tom) Jerrell of Manitowoc, WI; and four grandchildren, Edward Jerrell, Richard (Lauren) Jerrell, Sandra (Bradley) Mease, and Amy Turek.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dorothy; his great-grandson, Luke Mease; and his two sisters, Mae and Florence.
Services and interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
