IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward A.
Terpstra, Sr.
May 15, 1928 – August 14, 2023
Edward A. Terpstra, Sr., age 95, a resident of Bismarck, AR, formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023. He was born May 15, 1928, in Melrose Park, IL to John & Grace Terpstra.
From a young age, Edward showed his talent for woodworking. At just 13 years old, he became a carpenter apprentice, setting the stage for a lifelong passion that would shape his future career and define his character as the jack of all trades. His dedication to his work was matched by his love for his family. He built a home (from the foundation on up) in Glen Ellyn, where he raised his family.
Beyond his skills as a carpenter and cement finisher, Edward was a man of many interests. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and tending to his yard/garden. He was a master craftsman and loved to collect and maintain model trains, toy cars, and antique automobiles.
Edward's spirit of generosity extended beyond his craftsmanship and hobbies. He volunteered his time to the Medinah Baptist Church, later known as Jubilee Church, where he selflessly served on a team of dedicated men, using his skills to repair and maintain the church and the homes of fellow church members.
He is survived by his children, Edward (Cathy) Terpstra, Jr., Karen Terpstra, Kathy (Steve) Busse, and Brian (Debbie) Terpstra; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; his siblings Theresa (the late Bill) Hall, Jim (Norma) Terpstra & George (Sharon) Terpstra. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, stepchildren & step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna and his first wife, Dorothy; his grandchildren Anthony Monaghan, Lisa Terpstra & Justin Terpstra; his siblings Dave (the late Grace), John "Whitey" (the late Evie), Hank (the late Marie), Clara "Sis" (the late Richard) Skinner, and Alice (the late Tony) Cardea.
A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Relatives & friends are invited to meet at Mt.
