After a long battle with esophageal cancer, Edward G. Scholtens, age 81, a resident of Naperville, IL previously of Oak Park, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Monarch Landing in Naperville.  He was born February 21, 1941 in Oak Park, IL to Herman & Elizabeth Scholtens.

Ed loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ed and Barbara enjoyed traveling to Marco Island, New Mexico, Louisiana, Florida and many other places. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, and stamp collecting. Ed was talented at refurbishing furniture and building original pieces, many of these projects are enjoyed by family members' in their homes. Ed's gardening prowess led to tomato crops that were shared with family, friends and colleagues. He found great joy sharing both his woodworking projects and vegetables with others.

Ed started his career at the House of Heat in Oak Park, IL. He continued as a sheet metal millwright with Nabisco supporting the production of Baby Ruth & Butterfinger candy bars until he retired after nearly 30 years of service.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Kening of Bartlett, IL and Cheryl (John) Ferguson of Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Lauren (Alex) Van Ness, Matthew (Karolina) & Travis Kening, and Kathryn & Roger Ferguson; and many nephews, cousins & friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara who died in 2019 and his brother Herman (Geri) Scholtens.
