Edward Louis Olsen went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30th, 2022.  Ed was born September 27th, 1932 to Leif & Laura (Schimke) Olsen in Chicago, IL, and was the youngest of three children.  He graduated from Schurz High School in 1950 and from Wheaton College in 1954, with a degree in Bible.  Then from 1954-1956 he served in the Army.

Ed married Beverly Kott on September 20th, 1957 in Wheaton, IL.  Over the years, they remained in IL, living in La Grange, Carol Stream, Wheaton, and finally the last 9 years at Covenant Living at Windsor Park in Carol Stream.

In his late 30s, Ed began working for ServiceMaster, and at the same time started law school.  He graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1973 and retired from ServiceMaster in 1996 after more than 25 years.

In 1960, Ed was active in the beginnings of The Village Church (now Gospelife Church) in Carol Stream, where he served in many leadership roles and continued to attend until his death.  Ed was also active on the board of Windsor Park Manor retirement community in Carol Stream in its early years and was serving as Chairman of the Board during the conversion to Covenant Living at Windsor Park.

He and Bev loved to travel, taking multiple trips to Europe and a tour of Israel.  Ed also spent much time in Eagle River, WI where Bev's family had property around a small lake.  Ed and Bev built a vacation home on the lake in 1976 where the family created many fond memories over the years.  The last week of his life was spent at the lake with several members of his family enjoying a reunion with many cousins; Ed thoroughly appreciated spending time with his immediate and extended family.  He also spent many hours developing a talent for woodworking and also researching family history and genealogy, going back centuries.

To Ed's family and those who knew him he was a man of integrity, honesty, and responsibility, who strove to be molded into the likeness of Christ.  He was committed to truth and doing what was right, but could laugh at himself and his humanness.  He was hard-working and always fair, balanced and objective.  He faithfully served church and community in a quiet, understated manner and was a pillar of strength and stability in crisis.  He will be greatly missed.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, and his sister Carol. He is survived by his wife Beverly; children Cindy (Peter) Wallen, Steve (Julie) Olsen, Keith Olsen, and Kent (Cindy) Olsen; grandchildren David Wallen, Kate (Race) Wright, Becky (Joey) Vargas, John Olsen, Andy (Taylor) Olsen, David (Charlotte) Olsen, Michael Olsen, Caitlin Olsen, Aaron Olsen, and Faith Olsen; great-grandchildren Emma Vargas, Euan Wright, Arthur Olsen, Anders Wright, Vernon Olsen, Nola Olsen, and Lachlan Wright.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Gospelife Church, 600 N. Kuhn Rd., Carol Stream,IL 60188. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:30a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
