Obituary

Edward Ayers, age 89, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, IL, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 13. He was born September 29, 1925 in West Brooklyn, Illinois to Frank and Ruth Ayers.

Ed served in the US Navy during W.W.II. He worked as a bookkeeper in the meat packing industry. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He also enjoyed big band and swing music and dancing. He was a member of Beverly Covenant Church and in recent years attended College Church in Wheaton.

In retirement he moved to Windsor Park where his wife, Betty, passed away in 2004. He married Elma and they enjoyed 9 years together. They regularly volunteered at Windsor Park with the chaplains preparing for communion.

He is survived by his wife, Elma, and two nieces, Janet Mercer and Kathy Hoyt.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty and one sister, Jean Garnsey.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Windsor Park, Windsor Park Dr. and North Ave, Carol Stream, IL. Interment will be held privately at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Benevolent Fund at Windsor Park or the Beverly Covenant Church.
