Obituary

E. Jean Quiggle, 89, a resident of Windsor Park Manor, Carol Stream, IL, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born October 30, 1923 in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a gracious host and enjoyed cooking, sewing and raising her children. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping. In addition to being a homemaker, Jean, often worked as a bookkeeper. Jean was a committed follower of Christ. Throughout her life, Jean taught Sunday school, sang in Church choirs and was active in local Bible studies and prayer groups. She was especially involved in caring for widows.

Jean was the oldest of eight, all born in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She attended Altoona High School and worked in the office of local Pepsi-Cola Bottling Plant. She was active at First Baptist Church of Altoona. She met her husband, Bill Quiggle, at work. They were married on January 20, 1945 and remained in Altoona.

In 1962 they moved to Plymouth, Michigan and were both active at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan. After a brief period, serving at Camp Barakel, in Fairview, Michigan, in 1969 they joined SEND International and served at the home office in Farmington, Michigan. During this time, they lived in Orchard Lake, Michigan. As part of their time at SEND, they served one-year terms in Alaska and the Philippines. During their tenure at SEND they were members of Union Lake Baptist Church, Union Lake, Michigan. In the late 1980's they retired from SEND and moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where they were members of Village Bible Church. In 1998, they moved to Troy, Ohio and attended First Presbyterian Church of Troy. In 2005, they moved to Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, Illinois where they attended College Church in Wheaton. In 2007, Bill passed away and Jean remained at Windsor Park Manor. They were married for 61 years.

She is survived by son, Gregg (Mary) Quiggle, of Wheaton, IL , daughter, Sharon (Keith) Martin of Elgin, Illinois. Grandchildren, William and Emily Quiggle, Olivia and Eric Martin. Brothers, Calvin (Carol) Long, Gerald (Elaine) Long, sisters Lois Peterman, Nancy Thomas, and Doris Steindel.
She was preceded in death by husband Bill, sister Edythe Kern, brother Dick Long, parents Fay and Violette Long, aunt and uncle William and Edna Davis.

Funeral Services will be held at Windsor Park Manor of Carol Stream, IL, in the auditorium at 10:00am, Saturday April 6, 2013.
