Dustin Edward Tunk, age 21, was born on July 16th, 1996 and departed this world on August 6th, 2017. Dustin is loved by his parents, Charlie and Vicki; adored by his sisters, Lindsey, Asia and Skyler; cherished by his daughter Avery Lynn; idolized by his three nephews RJ, Logan and Owen; and deeply loved by his very large family – including Chalupa and Shady his favorite cats.
At age 11 Dustin was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. This painful disease became a part of his battle. At a young age, Dustin had to address dealing with debilitating pancreatic attacks and being hospitalized for extended periods. At age 15, Dustin had a blessing orbit into his world with the birth of Avery Lynn – his beautiful, lovable, kind-hearted daughter – a spitting image of her daddy.
As a teenager, Dustin was adventurous and had a passion for scootering. With increased absences from school due to hospitalized pancreatic attacks, Dustin was unable to regularly attend high school. This health challenge did not prevent Dustin from achieving his GED. In fact, Wheaton North High School requested Dustin's attendance at the class of 2014 graduation ceremony to honor Dustin. This was a rare request for GED graduates, however Dustin achieved the top 10 GED score in the state of Illinois. Dustin graduated with his class.
Dustin left his family and friends with many memories: a brother with a huge heart – phoning his sisters just to say, "I love you"; a son that made his mom proud to be his "Care Bear"; a dad that had an exceptional relationship with his son – his "buddy" (that will be missed everyday); and a daddy that was the best Barbie playmate and seemed to be able to cuddle endlessly.
