Obituary

Drina J. Denniger, age 59 of Iowa City, Iowa died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Drina J. Baum was born December 11, 1944, in Iowa City the daughter of Otto J. Baum and Anna Hedges Baum. The family moved to Wheaton, Illinois where she graduated from Wheaton High School. She studied medicine at Northwestern University. On May 28, 1965, she married Charles W. Denniger in Wheaton, who was to be her partner in life for the next thirty-nine years. The couple moved from Wheaton in 1976 to Iowa City, where she raised her children, and was mom to many others in the neighborhood. Drina always gave the best of herself to everyone. Her kind heart, quirky sense of humor and generous nature will be missed more than she can ever know.

Her family includes her husband, Charles; mother, Anna Hedges of Glendale Heights, IL; her children, Kristin Borchert and her husband, Scott of Marengo; Karie Mobley and her husband, Rod of North Liberty, Timothy Denniger and Jonathan Denniger both of Iowa City; her grandsons, Michael and Daniel Denniger; her brother, Michael Baum and his wife, Ellen of Dahinda, Il; and her sisters, Gretchen McAlinden of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Candace Baum of Glendale Heights, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otto; and a brother, Timothy Baum.

Visitation will be held on Sat. Oct. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 31, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where services will be held on Monday at 11:00. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
