Douglas Thaxton's Obituary
Douglas Thaxton went to his reward on September 4TH, 2017.
He is survived by his grandchildren David Patterson of Vernon Hills, IL, and Christina Patterson of Kenosha, WI
He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Thaxton of Waukegan, IL; his children Nancy Wagoner of Waukegan, IL, and David Thaxton of Waukegan, IL; his three sisters Elizabeth Martin of Maxey, GA, Doris Athen of Winston Salem, NC and Julia Canon also of Winston Salem, NC.
Doug was a veteran of World War II, where he served in HQ VIII Fighter Command USA. He served in the Korean War as an Army Engineer where he commanded a company of engineer supporting the building of the dew radar line across Canada, Labrador, New Foundland and Greenland. He worked for forty years for Outboard Marine Corporation.
A memorial service will be held at memorial chapel at Oak Trace Retirement Community, 250 Village Drive, Downers Grove, IL on November 4TH, 2017 from 12:00 to 3:00PM.
