Obituary

Douglas C. Stueber, age 62, who lived the best part of his life in Lac du Flambeau, WI, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Loyola University Medical Center, following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born July 26, 1951 in Chicago, IL.

Douglas loved life and people. Everyone who knew him admired his kindness and generosity. His passions were fishing, golfing, hiking, kayaking, and spending an enormous amount of time with his loving wife, Deborah, as well as family and friends. Douglas and Deborah met at Illinois State University. Their relationship has been a true love story admired by many.

Douglas graduated from Illinois State University with a business degree in June 1973. He went on to work for Allstate Insurance Company for 33 years, retiring in December of 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Stueber. Also surviving are his brother James (Evelia) Stueber, sister Joanne (Gary) Stevens, and brother Tom (Debra) Stueber. He is also survived by his nephews Greg (Kelly) Olson, Brad Stueber and Reid Lichty, nieces Denise Olson and Kristy (Mike) Gorzelanczyk. He is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews, his extended family in central Illinois, and many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Mary Stueber, and by his brother-in-law Richard Lichty.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 3:30 p.m. until the time of a memorial service to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Visitation will continue after the service until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
