Obituary

Dorothy S. Wright, age 97, a resident for 15 years of Beacon Hill Assisted Living in Lombard, and formerly of Wheaton, IL for over 35 years, died Saturday, April 8, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born October 21, 1908 in Gardner, MA.

Dorothy graduated from Gardner High School and then earned a Bachelor of Art's Degree from Wheaton College in Norton, MA. She worked for the New England Telephone Company in Boston, MA as a customer service representative. She handled complaints for the company. She later married W. Olmstead Wright on May 14, 1938. Olmstead's career with Protection Mutual Insurance brought them to the Chicago area in 1955 after several years in Hales Corners, Wis. She was a member emeritus of the Wheaton History Club, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton for fifty years. Dorothy was a lover of literature and of the English language, and had performed readings of Chaucer for high school literature classes in the area. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton for fifty years.

She is survived by her brother, Bert Sholz of Mamaroneck, NY; and two nephews, Edwin Sholz, Jr. of Berlin, Germany, and Robert (Marie) Sholz of Scarsdale, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, W. Olmstead Wright; her older sister, Lillian Hammett; and her older brother, Edwin Sholz.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at 11:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment is private in Andover, MA.
