Obituary

Dorothy White, age 88, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois, died Mar. 7, 2014, in Winfield, Illinois.  She was born Jan. 2, 1926 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Fred and Lionne Berkey.

Dottie White graduated from the University of Illinois with a language degree.  She was a long time member and contributor to the Art Institute of Chicago, The Field Museum, The Smithsonian Institution Fund for the Future, the Morton Arboretum, Daughters of the American Revolution, Hadley School of the Blind and the Delta Gamma Foundation. She was a great believer in higher education and funded several endowment funds including the University of Illinois Foundation, Du Page Community Foundation, and the Principia corporation Endowment Fund and the Spurlock Museum named funding for students as "The Dottie White Award"  which enables students to obtain hands-on-experience related to their course work.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet White of Chicago; her son, Ross White, of Guam; and her grandchildren, Paul and Sarah White.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald White, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held Apr. 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N Main St., Wheaton with Rev. Gregory Rykse of the Community Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was private.
