Dorothy Schiek, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, left us November 29, 2018 at the age of 99 3/4. We will always have her fun loving spirit and generous heart with us.

Her German chocolate cake was loved by all. She and Bud were married for over 60 years, and they built two houses together. Dorothy was a painter later on in life, and did oil on canvas as well as a ceiling in the bathroom. Her talent as a seamstress was also well known.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She left 2 daughters, Diane (Fred) Hedges and Marilyn (the late Bill) Hess, 2 Grandsons, Timothy (Kerry) Hess and Chris (Melanie) Hess and Great Grandchildren, Ian Hess, Lily and Mary Ruley, and Grace and Nick Schnell.

Mom taught us to live life with flair, to take life at a pace so you can enjoy each moment and be true to yourself. She showed us gratitude and strength.

Above all, we give thanks for the life of this woman that we are proud to call our Mother, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.

A visitation will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel, 7800 W. Irving Park Rd., Norridge, IL 60706 on Monday, December 3, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. We will walk to the grave site for burial directly following the service.
