Dorothy Louise Poling, age 90, a resident of Wheaton, died Sunday, July 30, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born May 11, 1916 in Darke County, OH to William and Gertrude Poling.
Dorothy earned a PhD from the University of Chicago and later taught English and was a Reading Specialist at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn. She was a member of Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, the Women's Department Club of Wheaton, the DuPage County Retired Teacher's Association, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Society. She volunteered at the Herbarium at the Morton Arboretum, the DuPage County Historical Museum, and the Wesley Shoppe and the Library of Gary Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two nephews John E. (Karen) Poling of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Robert (Louise Grunewald) Poling of Durango, CO; and her two nieces, Ruth (David) Kinder of Elida, OH, and Ann (Mel Lane) Jansen of Durango, CO; and two grand nieces and three grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Edward Poling.
Services and interment will be held privately at Union City Cemetery in Union City, IN.
