IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae

May 13, 1930 – February 9, 2024
Dorothy Mae Dylewski, a cherished resident of Forest Park, IL, passed away on February 9, 2024, at Pearl of St. Charles in St. Charles, Illinois, at the age of 93. She was born on May 13, 1930, in Dawson, PA, the eighth of twelve children born to Salvatore and Antoinette Rizza.
Dorothy grew up in Dawson, PA, and graduated from high school in Scottdale, PA. She later moved to Chicago with her sisters to attend dressmaking school and worked for AT&T as a phone operator. It was in Chicago where she met the love of her life, Frank Dylewski, at the Aragon Ballroom. They were united in marriage on April 12, 1958, and together they raised a loving family in Forest Park on Thomas Ave., where they lived for over 50 years.
Dorothy was actively involved in her community, being a member of garden clubs, quilters guild, and St. Bernadine Parish in Forest Park. She also shared her talents by teaching crafts and painting at Lee Wards. A skilled cook, Dorothy was known for her culinary prowess and worked as a cook for private parties. She had a passion for gardening, particularly tending to her beloved rosebushes and grapevines, which she used to make grape jelly.
After the passing of her husband, Dorothy found immense joy and purpose in her five grandchildren, who became the most important part of her life.
She is survived by her children, Frank (Karen) Dylewski of Forest Park, Katrina (Brett Coletti) Jones of St. Charles, Jeanette (Nick) Schneider of Rogersville, MO, and Greg (Tina Johnson) Dylewski of Naperville, her five grandchildren, Frank Dylewski, Diana (Max) Puente, Samantha Jones, Jessica (Anthony) Girardi, and Amanda Jones, and one great-grandchild, Niccolo. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and all of her siblings.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, Wheaton, followed by a funeral service on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, Wheaton. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
