IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Edith
Bodett Anderson
January 30, 1928 – November 10, 2024
Dorothy Edith Johnson Bodett Anderson peacefully went home to be with her Lord on November 10, 2024. Born on January 30, 1928, in Oak Park, Illinois. Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Erick and Edith Johansson.
Dorothy was first married to Roy Carl Bodett, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage and raised three sons: David (Evie), Mark (Brenda), and Roy (Shirley). Dorothy was a devoted grandmother to Shannon (Nahuel), Erick (Christin), Elizabeth (Dan), John (Megan), Lauren, Christy (Noah), and Andrew, as well as a proud great-grandmother to Fabian, Lydia, Abigail, Claudia, and Luke.
After Roy's passing, Dorothy was blessed with a second marriage to William Anderson, with whom she shared nearly 32 loving years and also gained two stepdaughters, Linnea (David) Lemon with grandson Gus, and the late Sharon Anderson (the late Felix Torres). Together, Dorothy and Bill enjoyed a life of faith, music, and friendship.
Dorothy spent her early years in Chicago, later living in the Denver area, Northern Virginia, and finally at Windsor Park Manor since 2013. A gifted musician, Dorothy shared her talents through singing, directing choirs, and playing both the violin and piano. She was also a talented and dedicated bookkeeper, known for her reliability and competence.
A child of Swedish immigrants, Dorothy was fluent in Swedish and took several meaningful trips to Sweden, the last at age 80, where her language skills remained strong. Her faith was her guiding light, and she devoted time to neighborhood Bible studies, Christian Women's Club, and other ministry work. She cared deeply that no one felt left out, always eager to connect with new friends.
Dorothy leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Memorial gifts may be made to the Windsor Park Benevolence Fund in her honor.
