Dorothy Bee Gerber went to be with Jesus on March 2, 2022 at the age of 98.   She was born in Cambridge, MA on March 12, 1923.  She was the daughter of Frances and Lester Bee.

At the age of 18, Dorothy married Vergil Gerber and they are the parents of five children:  Richard (Nancy) Gerber of Fort Wayne, IN, Ruth (Gary) Leman of Fort Wayne, IN, Judson who is deceased (Elizabeth) Gerber of Fort Wayne, IN, Jared (Beth) Gerber of Fort Wayne, IN and Janna Jacobs of Carol Stream, IL.  She is also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.

Vergil and Dorothy had a passion for Missions.  They were married for 68 years and spent their life serving the Lord together in churches, on the mission field, and in many other Christian ministries.  They were part of the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society for 33 years.  Dorothy also worked for the Greater Europe Mission for 7 years.

Dorothy has now lived at Covenant Living at Windsor Park, Carol Stream, IL, for over 35 years and Vergil lived there 22 years before his passing on May 27, 2009.  She was known by her friends at Windsor as a friendly, social person who was always inviting new people to eat at her table.  She loved being involved with others and was an avid game player.  She is remembered by her family, as a loving mom and grandmother who prayed continuously for her children and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois 60187, where a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
