Obituary

Doris J. Wiechmann, age 82, a resident of Wheaton since 1959, died May 31, 2013, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, Illinois. She was born September 16, 1930 in Chicago.

Doris graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology where she met Wayne Wiechmann. They were married in 1951. She received her Master's Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. She was a founding teacher at Glenbard North High School, teaching home economics. She retired in 1990 as Department Chairman.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. She received an Honorary Lifetime Award from Presbyterian Women USA for her service. She also created "Angel Gowns" for newborn babies at Rush Medical Center. She was also a member and past president of DuPage County Homemakers.

She is survived by her children, Lee (Marta) Wiechmann of TX, Ruth Wiechmann Browne of Oswego and Nancy Wiechmann of Bloomingdale, six grandchildren, Jeremy, Callie, Kim (Ben), Kyle (Cathy), Amy (Tom), and Melissa, and one great-granddaughter, Leena. She is also survived by her twin brother, Don Picha of Glen Ellyn.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton on Saturday, June 29 at 2:00pm.
