Doris H. Wallin, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, formerly of Wayne Township, died Monday, February 18, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born July 21, 1920 in Flint, MI.
During World War II, Doris worked for the U.S. State Department in Washington D.C. She was an active volunteer for many years with the Wheaton Woman's Republican Club. She was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wheaton. As a member of the Wheaton Women's Department Club, she regularly gave presentations and slide shows of her travels to 87 different countries around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Curtiss; her daughter, Janine Wallin of Glenview; her son, Andrew (Christina) Wallin of Elmhurst; her grandson, Carl Wallin; her brother, Alvin Holen of Flint, MI; and a sister-in-law, Betty Holen.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Holen, and Norman Holen, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, from 3-5 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
