Doris Marie Hawk (nee Meyers)
Doris Marie Hawk, age 88, a resident of Wheaton, IL, formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016. She was born on September 14, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Fredrick and Amelia Meyers.
Doris met the love of her life, Hugh F. Hawk at a CYO Dance on Staten Island, New York. They married on November 18, 1950. They have lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois, before retiring to Tucson, AZ in 1996. She and Hugh enjoyed a very active life, traveling, entertaining, building homes and especially loved RVing in their retirement years. When Hugh passed away in 2010, Doris moved to Wheaton, IL with her daughter, Beth Ann.
Doris is survived by her 3 children, Eric (Sharon) Hawk of Doylestown, PA; Cynthia (Greg) Carlson of Pennsburg, PA; and Beth Ann (Patrick) Atkinson, of Glen Ellyn, IL. She has 4 grandchildren, Eric (Angela) Hawk, Jr. , Robert Hawk, Caitlin Atkinson and Thomas Atkinson, as well as 3 great-grandsons, Dalton, Colton and Hayden Hawk. She has two beloved sisters, Lillian Vaillancourt and Joyce Fonte and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband Hugh, sister Diane Gregory and brother Fred Meyers.
A private service will be held for both Doris and Hugh at Assumption Cemetery, Winfield, IL.
