Doris May Frazer was born on April 5, 1923 to Minnie and Jessie Frazer in Kewanee, IL. She had one brother, Harold, who was one year younger than she. At the age of 6 Doris received Jesus as her personal Savior. She attended Moody Bible Institute and while there felt God's call to India. Doris joined TEAM in 1946. She initially worked for a year in TEAM's office when it was located on West McLean Avenue in Chicago. In the spring of 1947 she boarded a converted troop transport ship called the Marine Adder and sailed across the Pacific to step through the Gateway to India Arch in Bombay. Doris served in India for five years where she was secretary to the India field council chairman in Amalner, India. She also taught children's and women's Bible classes where she was able to share the gospel and read Bible stories. India gained its independence during the time she was in the country and she was able to witness some of the birth pangs of the young nation and the creation of Pakistan. As a result, Doris returned to the US knowing her visa would not be renewed.
In 1952, she was asked to be secretary to Dr. Delbert Kuehl, executive assistant director to the Mission and Candidate secretary in our Wheaton office. She helped the department to prepare for candidate school, and she secured all overseas travel arrangements and visas for our leadership and missionaries. She ensured our missionaries were at 100% before they could head overseas. In 1956, Doris began rooming with her long-time friend, Ruth Beam, who taught at Moody Bible Institute. They were roommates for over thirty years living in the TEAM apartments for most of that time.
In 1977, Doris became assistant candidate secretary at TEAM. In 1989 she was in a car accident that badly injured her feet. On June 13, 1989 she moved to Windsor Park Retirement community in Carol Stream. She retired from TEAM in 1990.
TEAM is so thankful for the great contribution Doris made in the lives of women and children in India and the lives of our leadership and missionaries in the homeland.
Doris was a member of Moody Church and Wheaton Bible Church. She loved being part of a Bible Study group at Windsor Park.
Doris was never married and is survived by her niece, Gail Koopman, a great niece and nephew, a great, great niece, many missionary friends and many, many missionary kids that call her Auntie Doris.
On Sunday, November 13, 2016 Doris was welcomed into the presence of her Lord, whom she longed to see.
