Doris A. Johnson, age 82, and a resident of West Chicago, Illinois, died on Monday, January 25, 2016, after a long struggle with ovarian cancer. She died peacefully in the home of her son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Carole Johnson.
Doris was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 23, 1933. In her adult life, she was a long-time resident of Wheaton, Illinois, where she raised her family of five children. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton for many years, and was recently attending Wheaton Bible Church where her son and daughter-in-law are members.
After raising her children, Doris worked many years at what is now the Chase Bank branch in Carol Stream and later a branch in Naperville. Before moving back to Illinois in December of 2014, Doris had lived in the Sheboygan area of Wisconsin for the past 25 years where she was most recently a resident of Oostburg, Wisconsin. While living in Wisconsin, she worked for the Kohler Corporation at the American Club Premiere Resort and eventually retired from Kohler.
Doris is survived by her five children, Deborah Downes, Lorna Morris, Cindy Meissner, Jeffrey Johnson, and Jennifer Fink. She is also survived by her six grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
Her wish before her death was that she would be remembered for loving her family, that she loved her life, that she kept her sense of humor, and that she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services and interment are private.
