Donn M. Valentine, age, 70, a resident of Wheaton for 35 years, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, November 1, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. He was born January 4, 1934 in Evanston.

Donn was a graduate of Beloit College in Beloit, WI, where he met his wife of 45 years, Susan. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He has worked in the insurance industry for 45 years where he was a well respected and trusted businessman and friend. He owned and operated The Valentine Insurance Agency in Elgin, with his son, Donn Jr. He was a passionate golfer and had many great friends at the Royal Fox Golf Club in St. Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; three children, Laurie (George) Cantu of Wheaton, Lynne (Richard) Minyard of Glen Ellyn, and Donn Jr. (Lynn) Valentine of Wheaton; eight grandchildren, Diana, Katie, and Amanda, Jamie, Kris, and Joslyn, Tyler, and Mitchell; his brother, Richard W. Valentine of Edina, MN; and his sister, Jane Moffatt of Orinda, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ann Valentine.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 4, at 2:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be private.
