Donald A. Whamond, age 76, a resident of Oak Brook, IL, died January 5, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois.  He was born April 23, 1948 in Oak Park, Illinois

Donald spent his younger years in Burlington, Wisconsin, and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in math. During his career, he had many jobs in the technological field. Before retiring in 2020, he spent 20 years as the chief technology officer for Dental Associates in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Donald was a recreational golfer and an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Northwestern Wildcat Football fan. His love for God led the family to host home groups and bible studies for over 40 years. Since retirement, he frequently volunteered with Meals on Wheels Community Dining. The Whamond family are regular attenders at the Wheaton Campus of the Compass Church. Other churches attended included Hobson Road Community Church in Downers Grove, and New Hope in Villa Park.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lauralyn,  his son Wesley Whamond, and many close family friends.

A visitation will be held January 11, 2025 from 11:00 am until the start of the celebration of life memorial service at 12:00 pm at the Compass Church in Wheaton. A livestream of the service will be available here: Celebration of Life for Donald Whamond
