IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Sites
October 28, 1945 – February 12, 2024
Donald Sites, aged 78, a resident of West Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 28, 1945, in Geneva, Illinois, to Owen and Kathryn Sites.
Don spent his formative years in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1964. He bravely served his country as a war hero, completing three tours of duty with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, an experience that profoundly shaped the remainder of his life. Upon his return, he dedicated himself to public service, joining the Wheaton Police Department in 1968, where he served with distinction until 1995. Don pursued his passion for law enforcement by receiving training from the University of Illinois and Northwestern University, and received special training in homicide investigation.
Following his retirement from the police force, Don embarked on a new chapter, working at Quebecor Printing in Mt. Morris before joining Caterpillar in Aurora.
He is survived by his cherished daughter, Dianna (Gary) Rackliff of Oklahoma, as well as his brother, Dave (Peggy) Sites, and sister, Kathryn (Bob) Wilson. Don also leaves behind nieces and nephews whom he held dear. He will also be missed by his loving classmates from Wheaton Community High School who he considered his extended family. Don always looked forward to his annual reunion with his classmates.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a service honoring his life will commence at 6:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
