Donald Jerry Karrer, age 80, a resident of West Chicago, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born September 29, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan.

Don grew up in Detroit and Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan where he graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School. He attended Olivet College for two years and then graduated from Wayne State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Tade, on September 27, 1968. They raised their daughter in Grosse Pointe Woods, where he worked for Miceli and Oldfield as a sales representative. They were very active members of Grosse Pointe Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served on the missions committee.

He retired in 2008 and moved to West Chicago in 2012 to be near their daughter and grandchildren. He was a member of the DuPage Art League.

He was an avid gardener and bird enthusiast. He also loved all forms of art and was a talented painter in oils and watercolor. Most of all he loved his family where he was "Bumpa" to his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, his daughter, Jennifer (William) Brown of West Chicago, and two granddaughters, Emma Rose and Aubrey Jane Brown.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N.
