Donald Edward Fandrey, born April 22, 1926, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Wood Glen Pavilion in West Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Fandrey was the husband until divorce of Donna Fandrey, the father of two daughters, Lynn and Melanie, and the grandfather of two, Joanna and Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara Fandrey and one brother, Dean Fandrey.

He served in the US Navy for two years during WWII. He attended college at Valparaiso University and Purdue where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Donald was a highly proficient engineer who worked for Barber Coleman in Rockford, Glen C. Martin in Baltimore, MD, International Rail Road in Hessville, IN, the Village of Downers Grove, Meihle, Goss and Dexter and for Rockwell International in Chicago.

His hobby was building and flying radio control model airplanes which he did all his adult life. He also belonged to several model airplane clubs.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Rd., Lombard, IL where a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m.. Interment will be held on Monday, February 11 at 11:30 A.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
