Obituary

Donald Dwight Anderson, age 74, died on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born July 6, 1947 in Berwyn, Illinois, to Dwight Anderson and Gwendolyn (Nicholas) Anderson, and was the youngest of three children, including Wendell Anderson and Ruth (Anderson) Matazel.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice (Randle); three children, Scott Anderson, Rebecca Anderson, and Jennifer (Anderson) Ryan; daughter-in-law Jeanne (Spacek) Anderson and son-in-law Tom Ryan; and six grandchildren: Alexander, 18; Jordan, 14; Veronica, 13; and Sarah, 11 Anderson and Connor, 8 and Savannah, 7 Ryan.

Don grew up in Berwyn, Illinois where he graduated from Morton Junior College and Roosevelt University with a degree in accounting. He earned his Masters degree from DePaul University.

After college he spent one year in public accounting before beginning his banking career in 1971 at Michigan Ave. National Bank. He moved on to various positions at Park National Bank and retired from his position as President of Lakeside Bank in 2014 while continuing as an active board member until his passing.

Don was an active member of LaGrange Bible Church since 1979 and after retirement also attended Boca Raton Community Church. Don has spent his life serving in the church and beyond using his gifts in a variety of ways including singing, ushering, finance committee and most recently on the boards of Pacific Garden Mission and Starlite Condo Association.

Don is known for his generosity, witty sense of humor, jokes and pranks. He enjoyed traveling, history, music, relaxing with a home project, his latest tech, and spending time with friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at LaGrange Bible Church, 850 7th Ave., LaGrange, IL 60525. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, there will be memorial funds for LaGrange Bible Church and for Pacific Garden Mission .
