Don Reeder, a resident of Wheaton, Elmhurst and St. Charles passed away peacefully of advanced Parkinson's on Sunday, November 11 2018, at Wyndscape Rehabilitation and Nursing Home where he had resided for the last four years.
He was born in Charlotte North Carolina on September 26 1935 to Lonnie J. and Marion Reeder. He and his younger sister Diane Reeder Hyde grew up in Charlotte. Don attended Southeastern Bible College, where he met Anne Hamilton who would become his wife of 61 years. They were married and after finishing college they moved to Dallas so Don could attend Dallas Theological Seminary. He graduated from Dallas in 1961 with a master's degree in Theology.
After graduating from Dallas, they moved to Oak Park IL as Don had gotten a job with the National Sunday School Association. He moved on to Moody Bible Institute where he spent 10 years--first working as the director of the correspondence school, then the evening school and ending his time there in human resources.
After Moody he found ServiceMaster-a company that aligned with his beliefs and principles. He built a business first as a franchisee and then as a franchise coordinator. He and Anne worked side-by-side in both businesses, retiring together after over 30 years working for ServiceMaster having made many lifelong friends during that time.
While in school he served as a supply pastor in various churches. After moving to the Chicago suburbs Don stayed active in church, serving as deacon and elder at Grace Bible Church in Elmhurst, then at New Covenant Bible Church in St Charles. He also spent time counseling and sharing his wisdom with individuals.
Don is preceded in death by his mother and father, Marion and Lonnie J. Reeder. He is survived by his wife Anne (nee Hamilton) Reeder and his daughter Lori Reeder (Howard Berklund) and son Scott (Tiffany Birch Reeder) Reeder and beloved granddaughters Skye and Makenna Reeder. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne Reeder Hyde and his neices and nephews Lee, Renee, Tamara and Sheree.
