Don B. Babcock, age 71, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on July 14, 2026. He was born February 11, 1955 in Newark, New Jersey to Bruce & Frances Babcock.

A 1977 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Don earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Business Administration. He built a respected career in the building industry and took great pride in serving as a salesman specializing in lumber and millwork with Lee Lumber in Chicago. His extensive knowledge of construction and historic preservation led to opportunities as a guest lecturer at the Art Institute of Chicago, where he shared his expertise in historical building renovation. Don was deeply committed to both his profession and the industry he loved. He served as the past president of the Greater Chicagoland chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), where he was admired for his leadership, integrity, and dedication to advancing the remodeling profession.

His Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. Don was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Wheaton and faithfully served his Lord in many capacities. As a devoted member of Gideons International, he served as past president of the Central DuPage Camp, helping distribute God's Word and encouraging others in their faith. He also generously gave his time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and PADS, always seeking opportunities to serve those in need. Don believed strongly in investing in the next generation. He served as an assistant troop leader for the Boy Scouts in Wheaton, mentoring young men and encouraging them to grow in character, leadership, and service.

Outside of his work and volunteer efforts, Don embraced life with enthusiasm. A dedicated powerlifter, he achieved the distinction of holding a national record in his weight and age division. He also found great joy each Christmas season by dressing as Santa Claus, delighting children and adults alike. In his final moments, Don was an organ donor and many will benefit from his anatomical gifts.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, June (née Sevland); his sister Sue Ann (William) McAvoy; his sister-in-law Connie (the late George Michael) Schiltz; his nieces & nephews: Rebekah Potter, Matthew Allen, Rachel Allen, Andrew Schiltz and Jared McAvoy. Also survived by his great-nephews Baxley and Burke Potter. He was preceded in death by his son Bradley and his parents.
