Dolores Ann "Chicky" (Wilson) Singleton was born in Champaign, IL on April 10, 1928 and died peacefully in her home in Wheaton, IL on August 29, 2018.

Chicky grew up in Champaign, Illinois with her brother, Ramon, and her sister Joyce. Her parents were Ashbel and Ann Wilson.

Chicky attended Champaign High School and graduated in 1945. She was an excellent athlete and in her senior year of high school she was awarded the # 1 Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year from the state of Illinois. She excelled in all sports including soccer, basketball and volleyball. Chicky was also an accomplished speed skater with the Champaign/Urbana Ice Skating Club located at the University of Illinois. After high school she attended the University of Illinois.

Chicky spent her adult years in LaGrange, Illinois and Charlotte, North Carolina where she lovingly raised her 4 children. She was a dedicated Mother who instilled in her children the values of hard work and honesty. Her days were filled with driving to dance lessons, football practice, being a Cub Scout Den Mother and various other events for her children. Somehow, she always found the time every day to prepare a fantastic meal. She was an amazing cook!

Chicky's love of life and family was shared with everyone she came across. Her positive joy and encouragement was infectious. She had a gift to make people feel appreciated, welcome and special. Her wit, honesty, humor and love were felt by all.

Chicky's enthusiasm for anything she participated in was evident. She served many years with The Chicago Infant Welfare Society including 3 years as President. She always enjoyed her artistic endeavors in painting and piano. Her real passion was tennis. She was very competitive in 3 different leagues.

Chicky is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gary K. Singleton Jr., 4 children, 2 step children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren (soon to be 3 great grandchildren)

A Celebration of Life will be held in Chicky's honor at Raintree Country Club, 8600 Raintree LN, Charlotte, NC 28277 on September 30, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

An Open House will be held at 918 Irving Ave., Wheaton, IL on October 17, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.
