Dolores E. Draper, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, died Monday, June 23. She was born on January 4, 1924 in Racine, Wisconsin to Theodore and Lela Erickson.
She studied piano at the Wisconsin College of Music (Racine Branch) and later continued both piano and organ at the Moody Bible Institute and graduated as Class Musician. While there she met James Draper and they were married on September 15, 1945.
Dolores was a piano instructor and served as organist in Hawthorne, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, and Calvary Memorial Church in Racine. She also served at the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville, IL, the Wheaton Bible Church, First Baptist Church in Wheaton and has substituted in a number of churches in the Wheaton area. She also played at Bible Conferences, recording studios and at WMBI.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Rev. James Draper, a son, James (Janna) Draper Jr. of Geneva, a daughter, Melody (Alan) Curtis of Pinehurst, North Carolina, four grandson, Dr. Jesse (Natalie) Draper, Rev. Jason (Jaimee) Draper, Matt (Cindy) Curtis and Ryan Curtis, and five great-grandchildren, Jakob Draper, Harley Draper, Jaylin Draper, Jack Draper and Wesley Draper. She is also survived by a sister June (John) Homes a brother, Ted (Karen) Erickson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister,Darlene Smolen and her parents.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, 27w500 North Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery.
