IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores T.
Donahue
February 19, 1930 – August 31, 2025
Dolores T. Donahue passed away peacefully in her home in Glen Ellyn on Sunday, August 31 at the age of 95.
She was born to Swedish immigrants, the late Hildur and Erick Johnson on February 19, 1930. She and her four siblings grew up in Woodlawn, a southside neighborhood of Chicago. She married Joseph F. Donahue when he returned home from serving in WWII. During their 37 years of marriage they had three children, Mark, Kirk and Kristina. They moved to Thornton, Illinois, where they lovingly raised their children. Dolores had a career as a postal clerk in the U.S. Post Office for 35 years.
She is survived by two children, Mark Donahue (Patricia), Kristina Donahue Puzon (Fred), grandchildren Mathew Donahue (Jodi), Jessica Loch, Meghan Donahue, Steven Puzon, Erin Donahue, Sean Donahue (Kayla), Eric Puzon (Courtney), Alexis Puzon (Tim), and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Donahue, her son Kirk Donahue and her siblings, Raymond, Eleanor, Marjorie and Evelyn.
She lived a full life and will be remembered for her boundless love of international travel, ballroom dancing, and classical music. She visited more than 25 countries throughout her life.
She was a talented artist whose many beautiful paintings are especially cherished by her loved ones. A deeply curious and well-read person, she loved spending time discussing current events, culture and history.
Her passing leaves a void for her family and friends, yet her spirit will live forever in our hearts. May her memory be a blessings to all who loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home ( 304 Main St., Wheaton, IL) on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 12 pm to 2pm. With a memorial service starting promptly at 2pm until 3pm. A luncheon will follow.
