Dick Miller, age 82, a longtime resident of West Chicago, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, surrounded by his family at home. He was born November 15, 1932 in Elmhurst to Arnold and Edna Miller.
Dick graduated from York High School in Elmhurst in 1951. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Seabee in Cuba and Africa. He graduated from Greer Technical Institute with a Bachelors Degree in Diesel Automotive Engineering. He married Carol Nelson on May 9, 1959. He worked as an operating engineer and was a member of Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150. In the 1980's he worked in video production for PDI, where he worked on the Superbowl Shuffle and various commercials and films. In retirement he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He spent many hours creating beautiful gardens. He was a master woodworker and was quick to help fix anything for his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Miller, three children, Gail (Tim) Hopeman of Willow Street, PA, Kim Miller of Winfield, and Jill Moravek of Wheaton, eight grandchildren, Rhonda, Rebecca, Krista, Scott, Katie, Abby, Eric and Amanda, twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Ramel.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until the start of a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave, West Chicago, IL 60185. A private service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
