DeWitt C. Gross Jr., age 94, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Brighton Gardens in Wheaton, IL. He was born April 10, 1921 in Chicago, IL.
DeWitt grew up attending Moody Church in Chicago. In recent years he has attended College Church, in Wheaton, IL. He received a Bachelor of Education Degree from Chicago Teachers College, and then a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. His career was in the Engineering field and he worked for four firms in the Chicagoland area over the years. DeWitt loved his wife and children and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandaughter.
He is survived by his two children, Nancy (Breck) Hensley of Wheaton, IL, and Clint (Valerie) Gross of Wheaton, IL; six grandchildren, Katherine (Dan) Hahn, Christopher Hensley, and Caroline Hensley; Andrew, CJ, and Audrey Gross; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Hahn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edna; and his sister, Dorothy Linman.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A A Committal and interment service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Cemetery.
