Obituary

Dennis B. Wicker, age 73, a resident of Winfield, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, Illinois.  He was born April 2, 1947 in Chicago to Hollie and June Wicker.

Dennis grew up in Morton Grove and Mt. Prospect. He worked at Northwest Community Hospital as a teenager. He then worked at Bell and Gossett in Morton Grove for a short period of time until he was drafted into the U.S. Army.  He served in Vietnam in the First Logistical Command Transportation Company. After his service he returned to working at Bell and Gossett where he worked assembling special valves for larger pumps.  He used his skills in transportation working for Chair City Express and then in the printing industry where he worked as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.

He married Leslie Wolters on April 5, 1975. They enjoyed travel to Door County and northern Wisconsin, where they liked to go fishing, boating and walking along the shores of Lake Michigan.  Dennis was a Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoyed cars, bowling and working in his garden and around the house. When they were young, he enjoyed being with his nieces and nephews showing some how to water ski, another taking on a trip or others flying a hand-controlled airplane. He was kind hearted and enjoyed making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Wicker, his sister, Diane Corso, his sisters-in-law, Diane Schumacher, Joyce Wolters, Paulette Wolters, his nieces, Bonnie (Wes) Tharp, Elizabeth (David) Armstrong and Lynn (Mike) Anderson and his nephews, Adam (Maria Thomas) Antkowiak and Michael (Ava Spencer) Antkowiak.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
