Dennis Darell Edwards, Sr, devoted husband, loving dad, and beloved Opa was a long-time resident of Wheaton, Carol Stream, and Naperville. He died peacefully at his home in Geneva on 2-8-18 at age 72.

Darell was born in Frederick, OK, on 10-2-45 and spent his youth in Davidson, OK. After graduating from Panhandle A & M College in May of 1967, Darell served as an Ordinance Officer (1st Lt.) in the US Army serving stateside and Vietnam He received the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He was employed with Bank of America as Sr. VP of Treasury Management Services for many years until his retirement in 2006. He was a member and faithful volunteer at Village Green Baptist Church and served at Fox Valley Hands of Hope.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn S. Edwards; sons, Dennis, Jr. (Dawn) and Matthew James; and grandson, Noah Darell; brother Elvis Don; sisters, Joy Jannette Edwards and Shirley Kay Meece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis Lee "Shorty" and Joy Bernice, and his youngest brother, Lanny Jay.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, 2-17-18, from 10-11 am with the funeral immediately following at 11 am at Village Green Baptist Church, 200 Lambert Roadd, Glen Ellyn IL. A private Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers or plants the family requests that Memorials be directed to The American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Wounded Warriors, or Glen Ellyn Wheaton Musicians Club.
