Dr. Denise Piombo, DC, age 54, a resident of North Aurora, IL, and Wheaton, IL, entered eternal life on Thursday, May 24, 2018. She was born January 19, 1964 in Chicago to Mario and Mary Piombo.
Denise, known as "Cookie" to her family, grew up in Chicago near Midway Airport. She graduated from Queen of Peace High School and then from Bradley University in Peoria in 1986. She earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in 1999. Dr. Piombo practiced Chiropractic medicine in her business, Integrative Health Services in Lisle, IL and was a clinician at NUHS Whole Health Center in Lombard. She was board certified in rehabilitation and certified in acupuncture and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS).
She enjoyed arts and crafts, and worked with stained glass, drawing, photography and especially beaded jewelry. She loved to travel and enjoyed Prague, where she went to study DNS. Denise was an avid reader and was very passionate about her profession, she really cared for her patients and loved to help people. She also spent time in France where she helped children with Cerebral Palsy. On October 8, 2011 she married Kevin Sullivan in Door County, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Sullivan of North Aurora, her father, Mario Piombo, two sisters, Loretta (Thomas) Benton of Aurora and Carla (Jack) Elder of Aurora, niece and nephews, Luke, Loretta and Jake Elder, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Piombo.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where prayers will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. A mass will follow at 12:00 noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, West St and Illinois St., Wheaton. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
