Delphine Lorraine Lewan, age 94, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died July 25, 2022, at Belmont Village in Carol Stream, Illinois.  She was born July 31, 1927 in Chicago to Joseph and Anna Lewan.

Delphine grew up in Chicago and graduated from Tuley High School. She was employed by the Federal Government in the Disbursements Division of the Treasury Department for over 30 years.

Her passion was her dogs whom she considered her children.  Her first dog was "Dina," a beautiful German Shepherd.  She went on to raise and show her Cocker Spaniels and later owned several Rottweilers. Her last dog was "Cassie", a mixed breed she rescued from the local shelter.

Delphine was extremely talented at needlework.  She created over one hundred pieces of counted cross stitch and needlepoint.  She enjoyed many "do-it-yourself" projects and had a vast collection of hand and power tools.

She was an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, and was proud to have owned one of the first Ford Mustangs.  Delphine was a huge fan of Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand and had the opportunity to see both artists in concert.

She is survived by her niece, Linda (the late Harvey) Wischnowski of Winfield and nephew, Michael (Barbara) Miller of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Dolores Miller.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
