Delores Sue Atteberry, age 60, a resident of Winfield since 1996, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 28, 2010. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 21, 1950 to Gilbert and Mary Faye Chapman.

She was a graduate of McLeansboro High School and Southern Illinois University. Sue married Dale Atteberry on September 2, 1973. She was a member of the Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton. She worked as a teacher for a number of years and most recently for Guy Brown Products in Itasca, Illinois.

She loved to travel with her husband, most recently on a dream cruise to the Mediterranean, and valued learning about other cultures. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends and was an avid reader who participated in a number of book clubs. Spending time with extended family and friends was very important to her.

Sue is survived by her husband, Dale, two children, Allison (Kenny Krajkovic) Atteberry of Keller, TX and Tim Atteberry of Chicago, one brother, John (Jeanne) Chapman of McLeansboro, IL, her father-in-law, Richard Atteberry of Fairbury, IL, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Gary United Methodist Church, 226 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Carmi, Illinois.
