Obituary

Delbert A. Kuehl, age 93, a resident of Elmhurst, IL and retired in Alexandria, MN, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Glen Ellyn, IL. He was born January 16, 1917 in Alexandria, MN.

Delbert was a retired Colonel in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. He served in World War II as a Chaplain. He saw front line action beginning in North Africa and all the way through the European Campaign into Germany. He received multiple decorations, including two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. After the war he entered the Army Reserves, retiring after 20 years in the military.

Delbert's second career was as a Missionary in Japan, and then as the Associate Director of The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) in Wheaton, IL.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Delores; four sons, James (Sue), Dan (Margaret), Nathan, and Tim (Luann); and his daughter, Nancy (Rick) Tischler; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his sister, Laverne Baldus.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be held on Monday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

A memorial service will also be held in Alexandria, Minnesota at Cornerstone Church, 202 7th Ave. E. on Friday September 24 at 11 a.m.. All who attend are invited to a luncheon following the service.
