David Dean "Pastor Dave" Phillips, 66, passed very suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack on to his Heavenly Home on Friday, October 22nd, 2021. Born on May 16th, 1955, in Virginia, Minnesota, he was the son of Dean Phillips and Mary Phillips.

Pastor Dave retired as the Senior Pastor from the Chapel of Redemption. He dedicated over 32 years of his life to full-time ministry. He was married to the love of his life, Melodie for over 46 years. Deana was always there and was his go-to person. His pride and joy were his two grandchildren, Zachary and Zalia. They truly lit up his whole world. Dave always showed great zeal for Chicago and its sports teams; the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls. He was an avid reader and constantly studied to gain more insight and knowledge. He loved spending time in the mountains of Gatlinburg with family and friends and enjoying God's splendor. Above all, he loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and fervently strived every day to draw closer.

Pastor Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Melodie Phillips; daughter, Deana Riordan (Joshua); grandchildren, Zachary David and Zalia Dawn Riordan; sisters, Diane DeGrave (Greg) and Barbara Hubbard; brother, Terrell (Charlotte); mother-in-law, Peggy Black; brother-in-laws, Paul Stier, Ronnie Black, and Mark Black (Robin), many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many parishioners and friends that were dear to his heart. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ellen Phillips; his parents, Dean, Mary and Thelma Phillips; brother, Fred Showalter; sisters, Marilyn Kaftanic, Carolyn Mick, and Trudy Goodmanson; mother-in-law, Nona Stier; father-in-laws, Paul Stier and Percy Black

A visitation will be held on October 30, 2021 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 . Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
