Obituary

David Lyle Papendick of Wheaton, Illinois, was born on March 29, 1942, to Lyle and Jean Papendick and went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2022, surrounded by family. He grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and attended Bradley University where he met Bonnie, to whom he was married for more than 57 years. Following his graduation with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. He settled his family in Wheaton, Illinois, and started his career at GTE Automatic Electric where he was a mathematical analyst for 14 years, teaching himself computer programming. He formed his own consulting company and worked as a computer systems analyst for multiple banks and insurance companies until he retired.

Dave loved Jesus and was a faithful member of Calvary Church in Naperville, Illinois, for almost 50 years. He was very passionate about his family, cherishing when his family was together; whether on vacation, enjoying a meal, or working together. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete, attending hundreds of basketball games, soccer games, track meets, and cross-country races. At home, he found pleasure in gardening, reading, listening to Southern gospel music, and doing sudokus. He will be remembered for his gentle love, quiet strength, and powerful faith.

Dave was an avid supporter of Bible Quiz. In Junior Bible Quiz, he served as coach, official, and league coordinator, and in Teen Bible Quiz, he officiated, encouraged, encouraged, and encouraged some more. He attended thousands of quiz matches in the past forty years motivating children and youth to know God better through His Word.

Dave was an inspiration to many during his life and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, their five children: Scott, Jeff, Todd, Chris (Alina), and Jolene (David) Powell, and five grandchildren: Shreanna, Sheldon, Shaymis, Shaylee, and Naomi, as well as two brothers, Rolland (Judi) Papendick and William (Barb) Papendick, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.at Calvary Church in Naperville, where a memorial service will be held at 4:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Church Bible Quiz Ministries.
